Why 117?

It's my lucky number, which is coincidentally following me throughout my life.  It initially appeared when my employee log-in code for my first real job had 117 in it.  Then I broke the high school record for the breaststroke with 1:17, next my university student number had 117 in it, as well as my passport number.  When I landed in Amsterdam years ago, I noticed that the options for trams to take home from the train station were 1 and 17.  Everyday on my way to work I cross bridge number 117 of the 1200 bridges in Amsterdam.  I also met another person named Derek DeBono, and his birthday is January 17th....(1/17).  So every time you see the number 117 in your world, just know that I am thinking about you.....and go turn on your favorite track from the EP :)

Derek DeBono grew up in Atlanta, Georgia playing drums for his father Ross at honky-tonks and trucker bars across the south. After moving to Amsterdam in 2007, he ventured out from behind the drum set and began writing songs and singing and playing guitar live. Although Derek has resided in Europe most of his adult life, you still get a strong taste of the south from his lyrics and overall sound which can be heard on his debut solo EP titled “Derek DeBono 117.”
